Location
The conference will take place at the AIP campus in Potsdam-Babelsberg, Germany, at the lecture room of the Schwarzschild building, see campus map, find the building labeled “Schwarzschildhaus”. The lecture hall is just behind the information desk.
We have a cafeteria at the campus. From there one can choose a lunch from two meal options or take a soup. Some other options, like salads, are also offered. The lunch prices are between 3 and 5 EUR (only with cash).
How to get there:
The closest airports are in Berlin: the Berlin-Schönefeld (SXF) airport and the Berlin-Tegel (TXL) airport. However, especially from USA there are probably no direct flights, and therefore one should check flights via Munich, Frankfurt, or London-Heathrow. A taxi from the airport Berlin-Tegel to Potsdam will cost around €50 and take about 30 minutes, one from the airport Berlin-Schönefeld will take more time (about 45 minutes) und be therefore more expensive (around €65). There are instructions on how to get here by car or public transport on the main AIP web pages. Maps of Berlin area public transportation network can be found here. Public transportation can also be found in google maps. Both BVG and VBB have apps one can use for route and time table checking.
There is a bus 616 stop ‘Sternwarte’ just outside the AIP main gate that runs between Griebnitzsee and Babelsberg. The all possible public transportation routes in Potsdam can be seen in the bottom of this page (page itself only in German). It is also possible to walk to the campus from either Griebnitzsee or Babelsberg S-bahn stations. Public transportation of Potsdam is included to ‘Berlin ABC’ ticket, for traveling inside Potsdam ‘Potsdam AB’ ticket is sufficient. The same ticket is valid in all public transport (bus, S-bahn, tram, regional train). The ticket machines can be found at S-bahn stations and inside busses and trams. Payment of the ticket can be normally done either with cash, credit/debit card, or even using contactless payment.
It is also possible to rent bikes all over the city.
