Fine Structure of the Penumbra seen with GREGOR
Juan Manuel Borrero (Kiepenheuer Institut für Sonnenphysik)
Abstract. We report on the first results about the filamentary strucuture of the penumbra as seen from the newly built 1.5m GREGOR telescope. The data comprise high quality scans (0.4 arcsec resolution) of the full Stokes vector around several magnetic sensitive Fe I lines at 1.56 microns. These lines are formed in the deep Photosphere and thus, allow us to probe the magnetic field deeper than ever before. The data has been corrected for straylight and telescope PSF using a PCA deconvolution technique and then analized using a Stokes inversion technique to retrieve the depth dependence of the magnetic field in the penumbra.
