Hybrid Simulations of Chromospheric Flare HXR ources
Michal Varady (Astronomical Institute Ondrejov)
Abstract. Recent measurements of vertical extents of the chromospheric HXR flare sources based on the RHESSI data show a significant inconsistency with the theoretical predictions determined by the standard collisional thick target model. Using a hybrid flare code Flarix we model simultaneously and self-consistently the propagation, scattering and energy losses of power-law electron beams with various initial pitch angle distributions in a purely collisional approximation (test-particle approach) and the dynamic response of the heated chromosphere (1D hydrodynamics) on the typical timescales of RHESSI integration times. The results of the simulations are then used to calculate the space-time distribution of HXR emission in the chromospheric HXR flare sources and their energy dependent vertical extent observed by RHESSI.
